Jakob 'S GOAL
– My goal for Runfest is to create an event that brings together everyone who shares a passion for running, from beginners to champions.
This is a dream that my brothers and I have had for a long time. Runfest should be a celebration of the joy of running, both for young and old. It will be a street run festival and a community festival where the world’s best runners are part of the show, but where everyone can participate—both recreational runners and those with lots of experience. Running has given me so much, and I hope we can create a race in Sandnes that runners from all over the world talk about and want to be part of, and that can motivate even more people to lace up their running shoes in the coming years

HIGHLIGHTS

Runfest is a new street running festival taking place for the very first time from 1-3 october 2026 in sandnes, norway. the festival focuses on public health and will offer a wide range of activities that encourage movement, health and community. friday 2 october and saturday 3 october are race days.
  • We offer distances of 1500 m, 5 km, 10km and 21km

On the 5 km and 10 km you can choose whether you want to be timed or not. If you prefer walking instead of running, that is fine too.

This means that everyone can take part, regardless of age and level. On Friday 2 October, we kick off with the Formula 1 distance, which is 1500m. This distance is open to everyone, and the final will feature some of the world's best runners. The remaining races will take place Saturday 3 October.

Runfest welcomes everyone, kids and adults, families and friends, running clubs, companies, recreational runners and para-athletes. No matter your experience, background or abilities, you can join. Runfest is all about having fun while giving yourself a positive challenge.
  • Runfest Summit™ takes place on 1 October

Runfest Summit is Runfest's professional meeting place, with a strong focus on public health. The aim of Runfest Summit is to create an arena where representatives from all sectors meet to discuss and develop initiatives that strengthen public health.

The academic lead of the conference is Norway's PT, Yngvar Andersen. The former TV presenter of NRK Debatten, Fredrik Solvang, will be the moderator of Runfest Summit.
  • School and Activity Day  takes place on 2 October

Friday 2 October students of 7th and 8th grade at schools in Sandnes will be invited to attend Runfest. The aim of this day is not to run fastest, but to be active together, cheer for each other and make room for everyone - regardless of level and abilities.

Non-profit organisations and other groups are also welcome to join on this day.
  • Inspired, motivated and drawing on experience from the Blinkfestivalen

We want to create a street running festival that will also attract a large audience . We have many ideas and plans for the years ahead, where we together with participants, spectators and partners gradually will develop Runfest.

Our goal is for as many people as possible to come to Sandnes city centre, enjoy great experiences, and of course cheer on everyone who wants to participate in the festival.

CONFERENCE

Runfest
Summit ™

Runfest Summit takes place on 1 october 2026 and is runfest's professional meeting place, with a strong focus on public health.
  • Together with our partner, Jæren Sparebank, we aim to create an arena where representatives from all sectors meet to discuss and develop initiatives that strengthen public health.
  • In 2026, the conference will have a special focus on work life and inclusion: How can we reduce sick leave, increase attendance of work and include those who are currently outside of the labour market, even though they are working age?
  • The main part of the conference takes place during the day in Sandnes, with keynotes, talks and panel discussions on how physical activity and improved mental health can reduce sick leave, strengthen participation in the workforce and help create a more inclusive local community.

The conference has a limited number of places. The aim for Runfest Summit is for participants to leave with concrete tools that strengthen physical and mental health, both at work and outside of work. Key target groups are business and public sector leaders, HR and HSE managers, municipal and healthcare leaders, sport leaders and organisations such as LO, NHO and KS, as well as politicians at local, regional and national level, and everyone else with a strong interest in public health.
  • In the afternoon and evening, Runfest Summit continues at various venues in Sandnes city centre, with talks, panel debates and live sessions on public health topics. These events are open to everyone.

Programme will be announced this autumn.
